Statement
To paint is a maternal undertaking, a familiar extension of the organic and the human; that is why it keeps readapting through its vast journey. A practice that probes the Cuban coastline, the memory of labor and the small rituals of the gaze.

Memory
of a coastline
Yeremy Guerra Reyes (Manzanillo, Cuba, 1984) lives and works in Havana. His practice begins with the Cuban landscape — docks, silos, bays, postcards from the Gulf — to build a gaze that oscillates between the documentary and the symbolic.
Series like Santuario de los Elementos, Las Guerras del Golfo or Cifrado de extremo a extremo trace the tension between the intimate and the public, between manual labor and the reproduced image. Painting appears as offering and as testimony.
Graduate of the “Carlos Enríquez” Academy of Fine Arts (Manzanillo) and of the Instituto Superior de Arte (Havana). His work is held in public and private collections in the United States, Spain, Germany, Cyprus, Mexico, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
